Phenome Core: Linking research into aHUS with real patients and treatments
The primary goal of the Phenome Core is to establish an unprecedented database of patient information linked with a repository of relevant biological specimens. This state of the art bio-databank will be coupled with the genetic investigations from the Complement Genetics Core and the computational skills of the Bioinformatics Core to provide the scientific foundation for a superior diagnosis and management approach to individuals with aHUS. The Phenome Core will be uniquely poised to facilitate a global approach to this ultra-rare multisystem disease as it serves as the basis for a multitude of future translational projects.
Led by Drs. Nester and Thomas the Phenome core is the main link between patients with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and the research team at the University of Iowa.
