Complement Genetics and Functional Analysis Core

Using the resources of the University of Iowa MORL Laboratory, led by Dr. Richard Smith, the Complement Core of the aHUS Center aims to support heath care providers in their treatment and management of patients with atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome.

To service health care providers with the tools they need to care for patients with aHUS the Complement core provides CLIA-certified genetic testing of all the genes currently associated with aHUS. It also brings the ability for investigators at the center to investigate potential genetic markers and causes of aHUS and HUS.
